Westward, ho!

EPL Talk has a great post on Arsenal's relationship with Colorado Rapids and the recent impact it's had for the MLS side. I've been curious for some time now why other top European clubs aren't pitching tents in America. We have almost as many people in this country as England, France, Spain, Italy and Germany combined. I know this country is nowhere nearly as interested in soccer as the others, but I know we have the resources to develop more athletes than they do. West Ham recently came to Chicago but had no plans of sticking around.

Note to American owners of foreign clubs*: send coaches to develop youth academies. Not only will you possibly unearth the next star, but you'll also expand your brand into the country you live.

*Only applies to American owners who give a rat's ass about the club. Sorry, Scousers.
